Name five things that you are truly thankful for today. My list?
1. My health. I take care of myself by eating well (most of the time). At Costco yesterday, I ate too many samples of the desserts. My mental health comes and go sometimes, but right now it’s good.
2. My husband. Yes, he can drive me crazy, but he loves and adores me. He is also great at cleaning up after the dog and the cats, when they drag in unknown body parts from things they kill.
3. My country as in the United States of America. Like Michelle Obama, I’m very proud of my country right now. I’ve been disappointed by some of the policies and wars during the past. I’m upset about the catastrophe on Wall Street, and my retirement is in jeopardy. But I have my health and a willingness to work to make my future bright. We have our freedom to speak as we wish. Hopefully without condemnation. And hopefully, we can work together. Let’s end bipartisanship.
4. The Earth. I love nature. When I’m at Radnor Lake or the Warner Parks in Nashville, I’m happiest. I love visiting the beauty of our country. I’ll never forgot the vacation John and I took to New Mexico this past summer. We were in bliss while hiking and hoping to see a rattlesnake. We didn’t.
5. All the Creatures on the Earth. I find every animal fascinating for its own uniqueness. We have always had another species in the house with us whether it be a bird, a snake, a lizard, a frog, a cat or a dog. I love volunteering at the zoo and teaching others about the animals there. We need to protect our wildlife and give them an opportunity to flourish. Let’s all be conservationists. And I can recognize that hunters are usually conservationists, too.
