Dilbert Makes Me Glad That I Got Laid Off
The character in the center is a portrait of me at my last job, which ended in a layoff for me. Midway through my tenure there, my job changed from a production person who could give generalized estimates to a bean counter, which I was ill-equipped to be. I had always been a creative production type, not an accountant, budget minded employee. I could give general estimates which was all that had been required for my early days in the job. Later I was required to give detailed estimates. I was a failure at this. I cannot balance my own check book, folks.
Anyway, this Dilbert makes me glad that I was laid off without having to worry about being laid off. If I had not been in the first round of downsizing, I would have probably worried myself to death. Even with Excel, I would not have been able to add 2 + 2.
This cartoon is very healing for me. Hmm, maybe I should start learning street-mime. I would probably be good at that, and it would not involve an Excel sheet.

Dilbert Today (Again)

This Dilbert brings out all the paranoia in those of us who have been terminated through layoffs. Although I am always told that it is a business decision, I do feel degraded. I survive my layoffs by keeping my self-confidence and not hiding the fact that I was laid off.
During this current layoff, I received enough positive feedback from those who worked with me, both inside and outside the company.
I could say more, but I am basically a positive person who cannot dwell on what could have been. I am too busy, and happy, right now building a new career.

Dilbert Today

I love Dilbert. I partied with some of my former coworkers Saturday night. They need a class in stress relief.
It was great to see them, though.

Scott Adams’ Dilbert
I have long been a fan of Dilbert. This Dilbert captures me the past two months:
